If you’re like me, you’ll need to watch author Rob Bryanton’s video animation–which is essentially an “unauthorized” and expanded explanation of scientific string theory–at least 3 times before your brain stops hemorrhaging and your mind begins to register all the implications. Not that it uses specialized scientific language that the “average Joe/Jane” can’t understand. It doesn’t. Not that the animations or illustrations are complex or mind-boggling. They’re not.

So what is it, then, that, as one youtube commenter put it, has “blood coming out your ears” halfway through this extraordinary piece? I implore you to watch it yourself, then ponder the questions I’ve included below.

Bryanton gives a fascinating analogy to demonstrate how our view of the dimensions above our own is distorted and incomplete. Remember the example of the flatlander and his perception of the 3-D balloon? How many [picapp align=”left” wrap=”true” link=”term=science+fiction&iid=7209726″ src=”a/6/9/2/Bedford_and_Cavour_3194.jpg?adImageId=13045579&imageId=7209726″ width=”234″ height=”393″ /]phenomena in our own experience–some might call them paranormal–are incomplete perceptions of other-dimensional objects or occurences?

To a flatlander, even a common being in the 3rd and 4th dimensions would seem to have “supernatural” powers because of her ability to see and comprehend events beyond the flatlander’s perception. Could it be that mystics, saints and other realized beings throughout our history have had a similar access to a higher dimension, and thus to us appeared to have powers beyond our comprehension?

This video represents the first chapter of Bryanton’s book, Imagining the Tenth Dimension. Visit his homepage here. This is simply the starting point. Bryanton connects this concept to endless aspects of reality, skillfully incorporating many worldviews and ideas into this “basic” vision of 10 dimensions.

Can’t wait to hear all your thoughts on this.

Did rob die? Haven’t seen anything new for awhile.

  2. Rob Bryanton says:

Hi Ben, thanks so much for posting my animation and your kind words about my work. I’ve posted a link to your blog in the “Interesting Links” section of my Imagining the Tenth Dimension blog.

The version of the video you’re showing here was created by a fan, who removed the opening and closing credits. Here’s a link to another version of this animation which some of your readers might be interested in, as it has embedded links to videos discussing a number of the other tangents that spring from this “new way of thinking about time and space”:

Again, thanks for your great comments and your interesting blog!

    Fond regards,

    Rob Bryanton

I have only made it through one time viewing and now I need to rest a little… wow! I am going to spend some time thinking about your question that mystics and other spiritual people are able to tap into other dimensions.

Also- I was trying to get a picture of a fox in our front yard one evening a few weeks ago and got pictures of orbs instead! I will send them to you if you are still collecting those images!
